Product junkies and gearheads alike had plenty to play with at last week’s SHE’s Fit! and SHE’s Beautiful! event in NYC, featuring yogi-friendly brands like Ahnu, Siggi’s Dairy, and VirginN Pure Mineral Makeup. From yoga footwear (it’s a thing) to all-natural makeup, here are our top 3 picks from the health and beauty expo.
The yoga shoe you didn’t know you needed.
We know … you don’t need shoes to do yoga. Still, some practitioners aren’t comfortable going barefoot at certain studios, and some studios are even requiring footwear, says Michelle Erbs, senior marketing manager for Ahnu®, which will debut its women’s on-the-mat yoga studio shoe, dubbed In-StudiOm, this summer (they’re planning a men’s version down the line, but it’s not yet in development). The super-comfy, slip-resistant shoe (it feels more like a slipper) is ultra-light, breathable, and anti-microbial, plus machine washable and made using vegan materials. Available July 15th at Ahnu.com ($49.95), as well as at select retail stores and yoga studios across the U.S.
The non-toxic moisturizer that smells like a peach.
A moisturizer that smells as good as it feels and is non-toxic, too? Consider us hooked. VirginN Pure Mineral Makeup and Bio-Active Skincare, developed by practicing aesthetician Tonja Lee Valdez in 2013, uses only pure ingredients that promote healthy skin while steering clear of toxins like parabens. For super dry skin, Valdez recommends Peach Souffle, the line’s most deeply hydrating moisturizer, and the most-requested product in the company’s Idaho desert hometown. Not only is it thick and creamy, it has the sweetest scent of any moisturizer we’ve ever tried. $48 at virginmineralmakeup.com.

The yogurt that fills you up (and tastes like dessert).
Call it yogurt for yogis. Siggi’s Dairy founder Siggi Hilmarsson created his brand in 2004, when he felt homesick for skyr, the thick, creamy, high-protein yogurt from his native Iceland. (He says the yogurts he found at U.S. grocery stores were much too sweet for his taste, and the ingredients were too artificial.) Now, Siggi’s is getting even richer and creamier. The low-sugar yogurt brand is currently unveiling a whole-milk skyr at Whole Foods nationwide and rolling out in more retailers in July, in keeping with market trends showing that people are a bit less scared of fat these days (it fills you up!). The vanilla flavor is creamy and delicious (we tried it), and like all Siggi’s products, contains no artificial preservatives, thickeners, sweeteners, flavors, or colors, and it’s made with milk from family farms in upstate New York that do not use growth hormones such as rBGH. Yummy.
