The Yoga Journal LIVE! presenter and Maya Yoga co-founder shares the gear favorites you can find her donning in and out of yoga class.
Manduka eKO SuperLite Travel Mat
Lightweight and supple, Manduka’s eKO SuperLite Travel Mat is Doane’s all-time favorite. “It folds into the shape of a book and takes up so little space in my bag that I absolutely love it,” she says. “I use it all the time, not just when I travel!”
Jane Iredale Lipdrink SPF 15 Lip Balm
Jane Iredale’s vitamin E-rich lip balm protects and moisturizes lips, while offering a subtle sheen for a color boost. Doane’s preferred tint: Sheer. “Since I travel so much, chapped lips can be a problem, so this stuff is a life/lip saver,” she says. “The packaging is classy and it lasts forever.”
SWELL Water Bottle
SWELL water bottles are BPA-free, lined with stainless steel, and come in a variety of colors and graphics. “My favorite is the wood collection because it just feels more eco to me, and I’m partial to natural products,” she says. These bottles also keep drinks cold for 24 hours and hot for 12. “Great for all day teaching events and they look fabulous!”

Jane Inc. Organic Cotton Eye Pillow
“Since I am such a natural products kind of girl, I love this organic cotton eye pillow from Jane Inc.,” Doane says. It’s filled with lavender and light in weight, perfect for Savasana. Doane always uses an eye pillow to relax her eyes after practicing yoga, and she finds the smell of the lavender soothing.
Stella McCartney for Adidas Iconic Big Bag
Doane is not one to compromise style for function, which is why she adores almost everything Stella McCartney designs for Adidas. Her Iconic Big Bag is large enough to hold a yoga mat, water bottle, and change of clothes. There’s even a shoe compartment at the bottom. “It’s a stylish, funky bag, and best part: It’s vegan!” she says. “Truly a rocking bag!”
Hard Tail Forever Charcoal Leopard Cat’s Cradle Bra
A longtime Hard Tail fan, Doane has been wearing their all-cotton apparel since the mid-90s. And the Leopard Cat’s Cradle Bra is her new go-to top. “I love the fun, funky cheetah design,” she says. “It’s a great fit and holds everything in place, even in Handstands!”

Tonic Melody Capri Pants
Doane swears by Tonic’s capri pants that she deems stylish and unique, but also super functional. “They’re fitted so you can see the whole leg,” she says. “As a teacher, I like to see the entire legs and feet.” These capris also last forever, according to Doane. “I have a pair that I bought 4 years ago that still look amazing and have held up their stretch integrity.”
Cooper-Atkins TC6 Multi Function Timer Clock Stopwatch
Timers come in handy when practicing yoga, by keeping you honest and regulating how long you stay in poses. Doane finds them to be excellent teaching and practicing tools. “I’ve found that I never stay as long on the second side of a pose as I do on the first, if I don’t balance it with a timer,” she says. “And Cooper-Atkins’ timer clips onto my shirt or yoga pants, so I can walk around class with it easily.”

Gomacro Protein Bars
Doane finds most protein bars to be bland and dry, but not Gomacro. Their bars are organic, vegan—and delicious. With 12 grams of plant-based protein and no refined sugar, salt, or additives, they’re winners in her book. “My favorite candy as a kid was Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but since they’re full of bad ingredients, I don’t eat them any more,” she says. “Gomacro bars are almost like Reese’s, but better!”
