Don’t forget to BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat) for this all day yoga event.
What better way to end the summer than with a full day of yoga in support of a great cause? For a yoga practice that will benefit your body and community, Northeasterners can take part in the Newtown Yoga Festival in Newtown, Connecticut, on Saturday, August 23rd.
The day kicks off in song and dance with the gayatri mantra chant, followed by a drum circle. Next, pick one of nine styles of yoga from Vinyasa Flow to Tweens Yoga to Journey Dance. Grab a nourishing bite to refuel before afternoon yoga with one of three master teachers—Ray Crist, Tiffany Maloney, or Jennifer Reis.
Channel the day’s shakti (sanskrit for “power”) with live music from Graylight Campfire. All proceeds from the day’s event support the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation, created in 2012 to honor and support the families, first responders, teachers, staff, and survivors of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.
