2. Summer Energizing Retreat

Just before International Yoga Day, the Suryalila Retreat Centre in beautiful southern Spain will be starting a seven-night festival featuring yoga workshops, classes, meditations, dance, acroyoga and live music. Perhaps what you’re in the mood for is something a little bit more cool. Puns aside, Arctic Yoga Conference in Bodø, Norway is an experience unlike any other! This year in particular the festival will set its intentions to demonstrating how yoga is so much more than a physical or formal practice on a yoga mat. Instead, the focus of this festival will be to highlight yoga’s value as an approach to health and everyday life. Workshops will feature the importance of yoga in schools and education systems, the value of meditation as well as flows to spark inspiration in the hearts of participants. 5. Summer Solstice Yoga at the Courthouse

Teachers from Day Yoga will walk you through an open-level yoga class to conclude the longest day of the year. This event is free and open to the public. All you need is water, a mat. and maybe a towel if the asana starts heating up. “A sense of community inspires our annual Summer Solstice class in the heart of downtown Dayton,” says Devon Schmidt, the owner of Day Yoga Studios. “Yogis of all ages are welcome to celebrate light and the longest day of the year with a mindful yoga practice.”

6. International Day of Yoga 2017

10. Shakti Gong Sound Healing

The sound of summer has a new definition with Shakti Gong Sound Healing, lead by the Starnes Sisters, Sarah and Stephanie. Blending the healing vibrations of a planetary gong with crystal singing bowls, rain sticks, and their voices, guests will be transported to another world. All you need is a mat and a blanket. “We love creating a sacred space for people to tune in, listen, and release what they need to,” says Stephanie Starnes. This is “a space with no agenda other than to relax and let the sound move through them—to be open to receive what they need, and to let go of what they don’t. Sound and intention can be so powerful, and we so love sharing with the community in this way. We all need safe spaces, and a chance to really settle and tune in to ourselves.”
