A honeymoon that celebrates your love of yoga AND your passion for your partner? Pack your matching yoga mats, now.
“You can go surfing, horseback riding, enjoy a private snorkeling excursion, go ziplining, walk on the beach, hike up waterfalls, and do as much or as little yoga as you want. It’s romantic, but it’s an adventure as well,” says Kelsey Matheson, one of the three main owners of Anamaya, who has practiced yoga for over 15 years.
Anamaya offers about ten 90-minute yoga classes throughout the week and four different yoga packages: yoga and surfing (includes five surf lessons), yoga and adventure (includes a zipline canopy tour or surf lesson), yoga and rejuvenation (includes two massage treatments), or pure yoga. Or, you can opt out of a package and create your dream vacation à la carte.
“You can take a class in the morning before breakfast overlooking the coastline, hear birds and monkeys howling in the background — it’s pretty epic,” Matheson says. “Or right before dinner we have candlelight yoga, which is more restorative. By the time we finish, the sun has set and the stars are out. There are bats flying overhead when you open your eyes after Savasana. It’s a really cool experience and a really great way to finish off your day.”
Matheson also notes that while most of their guests practice yoga, sometimes, one partner (often a groom) is less into it than the other. And that’s OK, as each spouse can choose a different package. “If a husband is more into surfing, he can do yoga and surfing,” she explains. Even better, you can introduce your dearly beloved to yoga while you’re celebrating your new life together. “It’s something the couple can do together, take home, and continue to practice when they get back to their regular lifestyle,” Matheson says.
Who says you can’t take a second honeymoon? Or third babymoon?
