Yoga Reaches Out holds a daylong yogathon to benefit children’s charity organizations.
Yogis, listen up: If you want to make seva (Sanskrit for “selfless service”) a larger part of your practice, do this: On Sunday join up to 1,000 yogis for a full day of yoga and music at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, courtesy of Yoga Reaches Out (YRO). The event, which is in its fourth year and was celebrated in San Francisco last month, raises money for both local and national children’s charities that help needy families, like the Children’s Tumor Foundation, Horizons for Homeless Children, and The Home for Little Wanderers.
Here’s how it works. $25 covers your entrance for the day, and leading up to the event, you can raise additional money to donate to the selected children’s charities. On Sunday, practice with local and nationally recognized yoga teachers like Rolf Gates, on the New England Patriot’s home turf. Between morning and afternoon asana sessions, peruse the marketplace, and enjoy live music from Donna De Lory and Girish. No saying yet whether Tom and Giselle will make it out (wink).
Tip for next year? Grab a group and join the 80+ teams who are fundraising together. YRO helps you organize and host Benefit Yoga Classes in your community—pre-event classes, proceeds go toward the team’s donation fund.
