Jenn Crawford has created an oasis for yoga in Boise. Zen Riot is a donation-based yoga studio with extremely skilled and knowledgeable teachers. Jenn also teaches yoga at the women’s prison, and is truly a yogi making change in the world. She has created a loving and healing environment for everyone in the community, and we are so grateful for all the things she is doing in Boise to help yogis from all walks of life.
Shine Yoga Collective
Julie Hart has cultivated a loving and dedicated community at Shine Yoga Collective. The studio feels comfortable and welcoming to everyone. We were so inspired by the love and knowledge that Julie had in her teaching. This studio is one that shouldn’t be missed.
Yoga in the Hood
Shannon Wells Femenia at Yoga in the Hood offers a soothing, tranquil environment and is very much a spiritual teacher. She has been a student and teacher of yoga for many years, and her energy is absolutely infectious. She is dedicated to keeping a cohesive yoga community while creating space for newcomers to feel welcomed.
Hollywood Market Yoga
Sallie, the current owner of Hollywood Market Yoga and Spa, found a 112-year-old building and converted it into a yoga studio. She kept the market’s mantra, “Happiness is spoken here,” which adds a great element to the overall Shakti of the studio. Brant and I took class with April, who is one of the senior teachers at this awesome studio. We had a great time and an opportunity to connect with the students and have some delicious Kombucha with everyone after class.
Wild Root Café
If you are looking for a fresh, healthy, and tasty spot for lunch, this is it. They say Boise is the new Portland, and this place can absolutely compete (I can say that because I lived in PDX for 4 years). They have a lot of veggie, GF, and vegan options, and everything they use is local. I loved it so much that I went back and grabbed a sandwich for the trip to Salt Lake City.
Best burger I’ve had, EVER. The Fresno Fig Burger is a MUST. I loved that there were lots of vegetarian and GF options along with a killer dessert menu, which I opted out of since, well, I had the Fresno Fig Burger.
Juniper has both indoor and outdoor seating, and it was the perfect way to end a nice long day of touring the Green Belt. Boise is really big on the Farm to Fork philosophy, stocking their kitchen, wine, beer, and cocktail lists with everything made in Idaho. Whether it’s brunch, lunch, dinner, or drinks, Juniper is locally sourced and always seasonally inspired, which makes for food that not only tastes good, but also supports local businesses.
Boise Farmer’s Market
What’s not to love about the Boise Farmer’s Market? The organic produce was so good, especially the fresh blackberries. We also bought two bags of BBQ peanuts from City Peanuts to bring on the road with us. It was such a cool atmosphere with plenty of fun street performers.
I loved everything about this coffee shop! It was such a cool environment. Brant and I brought our laptops one afternoon to do some work, and enjoyed the bright natural lighting, open concept, decor, and relaxing music. The roasters made great coffee, and it was nice to see that it was a place frequented by locals.
Boise Idaho Green Belt
Check out the Anne Frank memorial, then go for a nice stroll along the waterfront or maybe even a swim in the river! Or you can cover a lot of east-west territory through Boise on a bike. There are options to stop for food and drinks along the way, particularly along the eastern side from Capitol Blvd. We loved this so much we did it twice while we were there.
