Live Be Yoga: 10 Reasons Why We Love Portland

Portland is my favorite city, not only because I used to live there, but because it is so full of love, nature, and good food. Portland has incredible parks, a beautiful waterfront, and a thriving yoga community that makes it the best place to live year-round. Here are just a few reasons why PDX is the best!

You can go to any location of this coffee shop and be surrounded by local creatives working on their laptops or having a cup of coffee with friends. The Almond Milk Latte is my favorite (and the best I’ve had on this entire tour). They also have delicious pastries and often have gluten-free options. Brant had the blueberry blackberry scone and said it was delicious!

Multnomah Falls Hike

If you have time to drive out on an afternoon to Multnomah Falls, you will have one of the best hikes Portland has to offer. At 611 feet tall, Multnomah Falls as well as other falls along the Columbia River Gorge are absolutely stunning. You get views of the river and the vast, lush green scenery that makes Portland one of the most beautiful cities I’ve seen.

Imagine Yoga Studio

Laura Campbell taught a great class and has created a thriving community of yogis in Lake Oswego (10 minutes away from downtown Portland). She offers workshops, retreats, and special events. This studio also hosts my 200-hour Teacher Training, which will begin again February 2018! This studio is so welcoming and offers great instruction and guidance for all levels. Check out Kristina Coco-Hackenjos and Amy LaFond’s classes as well!

St. Johns Bridge

This iconic bridge was designed by the same designer that designed the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge itself is beautiful, with great views up and down the river. I also rode my bicycle to and over the bridge to the St. Johns area—there’s a great park there where you can picnic, relax, read, or practice outdoors.

Portland Japanese Garden

This garden is instant Zen! It is carefully and mindfully manicured as one would expect, and there are several separate gardens connected by pathways. There are also beautiful koi ponds and waterfalls that instantly replenish your energy. We also enjoyed the Garden’s serene and peaceful Tea Garden.

Yoga Pearl

I have been part of this sweet community as a practitioner and a teacher for a very long time. They feature so many styles of yoga, from yin to prenatal, and they have the best, most highly trained yoga teachers in the city. Plus, they host several workshops, trainings, and retreats yearly. Be sure to visit the shop that is attached, and Prasad, which is one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat.

The Yoga Space

This is the most beautiful place to practice in Portland. Michele Loew is one of Portland’s best yoga teachers and yoginis. She is also one of the most compassionate human beings I know, and has been a dedicated yogi, yoga teacher, and yoga teacher trainer for over 20 years. If you want a traditional yoga class with a loving community in a beautiful space, this is for you.

Corbett Fish House

I traveled through South America, Canada, Europe, Asia, and 75 percent of the United States, and when I say that Corbett Fish House has the best fish ’n’ chips on the planet, I mean it. Plus, they’re gluten-free!

Eb & Bean

I was a vegan for a long time, and I was so grateful when Eb & Bean opened, because they made everything locally and used premium products to make the best-tasting ice cream. They also have gluten-free options. My favorite is the coconut ice cream with coconut whipped cream and blueberries.

Bagdad Theater

Portland is big on restoring old movie theaters, and Bagdad Theater is one of the best ones I’ve been to. It has been beautifully rehabilitated, featuring ornate detailing and curtains that are drawn for the feature presentation. This reminds me of what it must have been like to see a feature film when going to the movies was an EVENT. You can also order food from the restaurant that is located in the lobby and have it delivered to your seat.

Solgar Supplements

solgar curcumin

Solgar is dedicated to providing consumers with quality, innovative, science-based supplements, and they are one of the Live Be Yoga Tour’s most valued sponsors. As a nutritionist, I know how important it is to get the proper nutrition. Most of us are lacking important nutrients that we just can’t get from the foods we eat at times. Since traveling, I have been able to stay healthy and feel great thanks to my Solgar supplements. They have been my most valued travel buddies! I use these daily: Curcumin, Ashwagandha, CoQ10, B-Complex, and my Women’s Multi-Vitamin.
