Arriving in Nashville was extremely exciting. It’s a city I had been looking forward to visiting for a long time, and I felt welcomed and accepted by the yoga community.
The Nashville yoga community thrives on the personal interactions of its yogis. It's these interactions that make Nashville such a great place to practice yoga. I was extremely encouraged and inspired by the level of unity that I felt just walking around town. There was a huge sense of acceptance, and I felt very comfortable right away.
Nashville has a long history of welcoming people to the U.S., especially people who were under extreme pressures from their own countries. Nashville’s Southern charm seems to welcome anyone who wants to come in; to me, it felt like a "home away from home" type of place.
Traveling from city to city on the Live Be Yoga tour, I have learned how important acceptance is. Not only for the people around us, but for our own personal well-being. Being accepting of where other people are and and letting go of judgment and expectations of how you think people should act is what is going to being to create a big shift in our current social climate. It's important to understand that we are all just doing the best we can with the circumstances we have been given. Our only job is to consistently live in our own truth, light, and love. When we accept others as they are, we give them the space to find their own path and to learn and hold true to their own truth. Just because we accept and love others as they are does not mean that we have to participate in their narrative or belief system. Instead, with acceptance and compassion come healthy boundaries and ultimately, stronger relationships.
I am so grateful to have had such an incredibly positive experience in Nashville, To me, the city felt like a loving, tranquil temple that I hope to visit again soon.
