As 2022 draws to a close, we’re all looking forward to starting fresh in the new year. And what better way to welcome 2023 than with a New Year’s Eve yoga or meditation class that can be streamed right from the comfort of your home?
Whether you’re looking to be immersed in a sequence right when the clock strikes midnight or want to practice earlier in the day, these classes allow you to bid adieu to 2022 in the best way. You’ll be able to reflect on your past year and set your intentions for the new year. Hey, this may even become your new New Year’s Eve tradition.
4 New Year’s Eve yoga and meditation classes
This two-hour accessible practice includes gentle movement, restorative postures and deep breathing exercises. If you need to recenter yourself—and tune into your body—before heading into the new year, this is a great flow to try. This online virtual class begins at 1 p.m. EST and is perfect for yogis of all levels. This class uses a sliding pay scale.
The Yoga Common, a studio based in New York City and Austin, is offering a special livestream class on New Year’s Eve designed to help you step into 2023 rested—and energized. This two-hour class starts at 10 p.m. EST and ends right at midnight, ensuring that you’ll be able to start 2023 in Savasana. (We can’t think of a better pose to start the new year with, to be honest.) This livestream class costs $25 and has a capacity limit, so you’ll want to book your spot ahead of time.
This New Year’s Eve, the New York Zen Center is hosting an online Zazen meditation session. Zazen, a type of meditation, includes short periods of seated meditation followed by traditional bell ringing. This meditation session will help you reframe your thinking in time for the new year, allowing you to start fresh in 2023. The meditation is from 6–8:30 p.m. and costs $25 per person.
Find your inner calm before the start of 2023. This New Year’s Eve celebration hosted by Sahaja Yoga Meditation will lead you through a meditation session for the arrival of the new year. You’ll also be able to connect with fellow meditators from around the world, joining together for a unified practice through Zoom. The meditation begins at 9:45 p.m. EST and is free.
