Yoga Journal has just published “Yoga for Beginners,” a newsstand-only issue, available Nov. 3 nationwide.
According to Mediamark Research & Intelligence (MRI), from spring 2008 to spring 2009, 2 million Americans started practicing yoga, bringing the total number of practitioners to 13.35 million nationwide, a 20% increase from the year prior. This special edition was created to serve this expanding and vital market.
“Our editorial for beginners is always the most popular content in the magazine and online,” says Bill Harper, Group Publisher of Active Interest Media’s Healthy Living Group. “Last year’s ‘Yoga at Home’ special edition greatly exceeded our expectation by selling over 100,000 copies on the newsstand and selling out our allotment of advertising pages. With ‘Yoga for Beginners,’ we fully expect to meet or exceed those numbers.”
The special edition magazine will retail for $8.99. Key advertisers include Athleta, Hardtail, Huggermugger, Jade Yoga, Kulae, Lululemon Athletica and MBT Shoes.
