September is National Yoga Month, which means there are all kinds of amazing free events that celebrate yoga and introduce the practice to potential yogis. The campaign, an initiative of the Yoga Health Foundation, includes the popular free-week-of-yoga program, which this year has 2,000 participating studios. It’s a great way to try out a studio you’ve never been to. To find studios and other events near you, visit the Yoga Health Foundation website.
Here are a few of our favorite ways to participate this year:
Global Mala Yoga for Peace. International Peace Day is Sept. 21. To celebrate, the Yoga Health Foundation will be sponsoring events to practice 108 Sun Salutations in cities around the world. To find an event near you, click here.
A Time for Yoga. This is another opportunity to join yoga practitioners across the globe! On Sept. 30 yoga studios and others around the world will host a special 7pm practice of yoga asana, meditation, and mindfulness. It’s also a celebration of the end of National Yoga Month. Visit this page to find an event in your community or learn how to organize your own.
Om at Home. If you can’t make it to a local event, or if you live in a remote area without easy access to a studio, you can still take advantage of National Yoga Month to try out a free class. Yoga clothing company Athleta has teamed up with YogaGlo to offer three free online classes with San Francisco yoga teacher Stephanie Snyder available all month. Check them out here.
