It may seem like the only buzz in Washington these days is about the upcoming election, but it’s not true: This week the folks on Capitol Hill, or at least the folks that live near Capitol Hill, are also talking about yoga. That’s because the seventh annual DC Yoga Week is on! It comes to a resounding conclusion this weekend with Yoga on the Mall (YOTM), a gathering of hundreds of yogis near the Washington Monument to participate in a free, collective outdoor yoga practice led by teachers from 30 area studios, including YJ cover girl Faith Hunter.
This year will also feature kirtan with David Newman.
If you’ll recall, Washington, DC, was named one Yoga Journal’s picks in 2011 for “10 Fantastically Yoga-Friendly Towns.” Yes, indeed, there’s more to this place than politics. The yogis are on the scene!
YOTM is open to all levels of yoga students, from beginners to advanced, and to individuals, as well as families with children. The rain date is May 20. For details, go to www.dcyogaweek.com.
