This week, Mercury joins our Sun in the sign of Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, where our thoughts and communication delve into the tides of compassion, forgiveness, oneness, and healing.
Mercury Enters Pisces
The last two weeks have been a beautiful invitation to step into all that is offered by Pisces. Two days after the Sun moved into the water sign on February 18, we met a Pisces new Moon. As we begin this new week, Mercury also moves into Pisces, where the invitations of the sign become more present within us, particularly in our minds.
Pisces is the mystic of the zodiac. It is compassion and it is healing. It is oneness and it is surrender. It is the sign that takes us deep into the etheric, inviting dreaming and intuition, opening our hearts, and instigating forgiveness. It represents the unseen, within and without.
An abstract sign, Pisces is not linear, nor is it black or white. It is every moment and every color at once. It is the inexplicable healing that occurs through presence, love, poetry, and sound. It is the divinity within prayer and the empathy that connects us with another.
Mercury represents our mind. It is our logical thinking and planning, our left-brained perspective of life, the way that we organize and express our words. As this intellectual and rational planet steps into the nonlinear realm of Pisces, it is encouraged to ease its boundaries and let its guard down a little.
Pisces invites Mercury to bring compassion to our minds. It invites forgiveness to our perspective, both for the self and other. And it invites the art of surrender and allowance, where we don’t need to make every thought mean anything more than a fleeting moment or analyze and logically understand it or attach our identity to it. It offers a dissolving of mental chatter and the calm knowing that our thoughts are not ours to identify with. Rather, they can float, in and out, and we can find compassion for the source of them, offer them love, and release them back into the ethers.
Pisces is the sign that sits the furthest away from the human self, the reality of the physical world, and the forming of identity within the structures around us. Mercury in Pisces isn’t necessarily rooted in the day-to-day concerns we live within—such as time, schedules, planning, transportation, and more—and may bring with it an air of fantasy and dreaminess that can feel far away from the smaller movements and necessities of our days. This offers a less focused filter for the mind and potential for heightened imagination and intuition. Coming back to Earth and allowing structures like to-do-lists and calendar reminders will support us greatly where needed.
Your Invitation
Your mind is being lifted into the realm of creativity, love, and imagination. The pairing of Mercury and Pisces calls for meditation and prayer, creative writing, and all the dreaming and visualizing you can fit into your days.
There is potential for great healing within Mercury in Pisces, healing that can be found only when you surrender to the constant fluctuations and in-and-out flow that is your mind. Unclench your metaphoric hands and let it go.
This transit offers a highly intuitive perception and knowing. It’s a beautiful time to really lean into intuition, inner knowing, and trusting your perception that exists beyond logic. There is guidance available in each moment. This week, it offers eyes to see it and ears to hear it.
Your invitation is to offer yourself compassion. For every thought you notice and any moment you desire to control, your invitation is to soften, to marvel at the beauty that surrounds you in this world, and to forgive yourself and others the best that you can.
Your invitation is to dream about the desires that wait within your heart and to offer love to any mental construct that has you believing them to be unrealistic, unattainable, or too good for you.
Your invitation is to connect to something beyond logic and rational understanding, whether that’s the existence of love, the whispers that can be found only in silence, or the lightness that floats through you as you surrender to meditation, your yoga practice, or music.
