This Aries season brings us the rare occurrence of two new Moons. The first new Moon in Aries, on March 21, serves as an astrological new year. It’s a time to reset and revisit every intention you’ve set since the beginning of this year. It’s a reminder that when we embrace a journey of personal growth, we must begin again, again, and again.
What the New Moon in Aries Means for You
The courage to overcome any obstacle. The sheer willpower to persevere. The motivation to keep going. These are the energies of Aries. We tune into them anytime we need a burst of inspiration to begin, continue, and hold on against all odds.
Aries is raw and primal. It represents the vibration of life itself. It’s a baby’s cry to be fed, a seed bursting through the soil to find the light, and a gazelle sprinting for survival. Aries teaches us that we have the right to exist in this world and helps us fight for that existence when needed. This vibration is explosive and propels us to the next level of our evolution when harnessed in the right direction.
Ruled by fire and the planet Mars, Aries season inundates us with frequencies of motivation, courage, and excitement. This season ushers in a new astrological year and helps us form new beginnings. This is the time of fresh starts, when nature renews itself and begins another cycle of life.
The new Moon in Aries is full of fiery energy and can feel electric on your nervous system. This intensity can fuel your passions or cause you to feel your frustrations. It adds fuel to any internal fire, whether it be your irritation or your determination.
If you have anger, impatience, or restlessness coming up around this new Moon, know that it is only Aries bringing your awareness to what needs attention in your life. Often, when you are not aligned with your purpose or your life’s mission, you will experience a nagging feeling. It may start as a mild annoyance with yourself and others, then grow to constant irritation until you discover the source.
If you have been experiencing a building restlessness, welcome the full eruption of your energy. Allow all of your fears, annoyances, and frustrations to boil to the surface. Only once everything is out in the open can you determine the root cause of these feelings. Then you can find a solution for not only releasing your emotions but shifting them into something productive and aligned with your soul.
Every emotion is just energy with a core vibration. When we vibrate higher, we are merely shifting the energetic vibration from one emotion, such as anger, to another frequency. Instead of trying to rid yourself of any feelings of annoyance with your current life this new Moon, feel how you can shift them into an energy of motivation to find a new path aligned with your soul’s journey. Harness the magic of the new Moon to help you set the frequency you want to emit and carry in your field, then align with Aries to stay determined to uphold that frequency.
There is a direct link in our consciousness between anger and “approach” motivation. This type of motivation is what is needed to push us into new situations and take the first steps on a path that may scare us. You may have experienced the link between these two emotions at one point. When you feel angry, it becomes easier to gain the courage to do something you may not normally feel comfortable doing. This effect does not mean you need to become angry to start anew; it just means that if the new Moon in Aries is bringing up frustration for you, find a good use for these energies.
This new Moon reminds us that we are never done growing and evolving. Transformation takes place in the small steps from one version of ourselves to another. When we give ourselves space to start anew, we create a magnet for new vibrations to enter our field, helping us reach the next level of growth. The new Moon in Aries is the perfect portal for us to step through and meet the next version of ourselves as we begin again at the start of this astrological year.

Other Astrological Aspects
This new Moon is aspected with Pluto and Mars, adding to the energy. It sextiles Pluto, which is about to leave Capricorn and enter Aquarius. Sextile aspects are harmonious and combine the energy of the two astrological bodies forming them. In its final days of Capricorn, Pluto is highly active in the cosmos on this new Moon.
Pluto reminds us to honor the cycles of our life. This planet teaches us that the timeline of our energy is far wider than this conscious lifetime. Events that happen in this life could be related to past lifetimes and we may never consciously understand their true meaning.
As the new Moon in Aries squares Mars, it may create friction around your purpose, passions, and life path. Perhaps you don’t know what you want to do with this life. How does that make you feel? When Mars is activated, we tend to feel frustrated or impatient. It’s important to remember that it can take years and much experimentation to find your life’s purpose. Your path may take lots of twists and turns. It may need redirection and even spiral evolution.
That’s all okay. You cannot miss your destiny. You may become impatient waiting to find it, but you cannot miss it. But you might make it harder to find if you stay attached to lower vibrations, like doubt and fear. You can’t miss it, though.
How to navigate the new Moon in Aries
On this first new Moon of the astrological year, expect the energy to be high. First, find grounding within yourself. This energy is dynamic and can feel chaotic to your system if you don’t take the time to connect with your center.
Make sure you set aside time to breathe, meditate, and let your energy flow. If it feels intense or you’re feeling restless, move your body. Do yoga, go for a run, dance it out, find some way to sweat. When you move, it encourages energy to flow evenly through your physical and energetic bodies.
If you feel stuck, stagnant, confused, overwhelmed, or like your head is spinning in multiple directions, connect with your body and find your footing. Staying centered in yourself will help you connect with and harness Aries’s energy, which will help you create the changes you desire in your life instead of feeling frustrated or overloaded with energy.
Once you feel settled in your mind, body, and spirit, feel into what your soul wants to tell you. Aries encourages us to face fear, feel it, and go on despite it. It reminds us that fear does not control us. We do not have to release it, though. We can continue on our path with fear as our passenger. Fear can be helpful in some circumstances, but it does not deserve the driver’s seat.
Meditation gives us focus when we become distracted and allows us to hear our intuition more clearly. Meditation gives us the space and the stillness to connect with the soul and know what it means to live in its truth. It enables us to stay true to ourselves even when other voices try to interfere. It brings us home to ourselves and our journey.
Trust the process of your life and trust that you are on the right path, even if it feels circular at times. One day all the pieces will line up, and you will realize why they all occurred the way they did. Be grateful for your journey, have fun in the chaos, and let the small annoyances pass you by. Focus on what you are most passionate about and what absorbs your attention. That’s where your soul wants to go. Follow it.
